Vintage-Inspired Valentine’s Day Garlands

The holidays are over, we rang in a new year, and now Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I’ve been a busy bee making Flapper Girl’s 2011 Valentine Collection, and I’m super excited to share it with you!

As always, months of planning, collecting, and designing went into each piece. This collection is a labor of love, which is appropriate since it’s all about celebrating the season of l’amour & romance.

Vintage-Inspired FATE Valentine’s Day Garland

Fate brings love and good fortune this Valentine’s Day with this vintage-inspired garland featuring a beautiful gypsy card reader, a sultry queen of diamonds, the face of a handsome suitor, and a vintage valentine depicting a hand of cards where “the jack and queen can be a pair.”

Letter medallions feature black hand-folded crepe fringe and red glitter accents. Playing card valentine features a black ribbon bow and fancy red ribbon tails.

Garland measures approx. 52″ long.

Vintage-Inspired BE MINE Valentine Garland

This romantic valentine garland features pretty-in-pink flappers, a dapper couple in love, a pair of vintage diamond & emerald rings, taupe hearts decorated with flowers and ribbons, and the loving sentiment of “Be Mine!”

Be Mine medallions feature sage green hand-folded crepe fringe, champagne pink glitter accents and extra long black ribbon tails. Ring medallions feature hand-folded black & ivory crepe fringe accents. Taupe hearts are decorated with tiny flower appliques and sage green bows.

Garland measures approx. 52″ long.

Art Deco LOVE Valentine Garland

Love is in the air! This vintage-inspired Valentine Garland depicts three dapper jazz-age couples in love. An Art Deco typeface spelling out the word “LOVE” completes the look.

Letter medallions feature hand-folded red crepe paper fringe, black glitter accents and red ribbon tails. Heart components feature gray flocking and hand-folded white paper crepe fringe.

This garland is back by popular demand! It was first introduced last year for the 2010 Valentine Collection. Since it had such a great response last year, I gave it a bit of a revamp and am thrilled to be able to offer it again this year.

Retro Valentine Cupacke Picks

This season, I’m also offering up these super cute retro Valentine’s Day cupcake picks! Each pick measures 3.75″ tall. Each decoration measures 2″ in diameter (including crepe fringe). All are made from thick, quality card stock. All my cupcake toppers are reinforced with card stock backing, which means no visible sticks from the front or back.

Each set contains *TWO* of each design pictured above.

My Valentine

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day, and I hope you all had a lovely one. Every year my husband and I exchange valentines and small gifts, and we always give our daughter a valentine and some fun treats too.

Ever since the time long ago when we realized we were crazy about each other, not a day has gone by where my husband hasn’t told me that I am beautiful, and that he loves me. I fall asleep in his arms every night, and we cuddle every morning before starting the day together. He supports and encourages me to follow my dreams, he’s a great dad, and the main chef in the house. He has a great sense of humor, and makes me laugh all the time.

For those reasons alone, I am a lucky girl, but there are an infinite number of additional reasons why I love my husband with all of my heart.

One of the things that is great about being married to someone who loves to write is receiving wonderful, heart-felt notes for each holiday. They’re so tender and meaningful, and they always make me cry. I keep all my cards and letters from him in a box, and every once in awhile I go back and read them all over again, and cry some more—happy tears, of course. There’s just something amazing about feeling an indescribable love for another human being, and knowing with every inch of your soul that it’s reciprocated 100%.

Valentine’s Day Goodies Now Available at Reading Frenzy

Portland’s darling gem of an indie bookstore, Reading Frenzy, is now carrying some items from Flapper Girl’s 2010 Valentine Collection. I went in yesterday and dropped off some sets of Flapper Cupcake Picks, Flapper Ribbon Ornaments, and Make-Your-Own Retro Pinup Greeting Kits.

The greeting card kits are being sold exclusively at Reading Frenzy. You can’t find them anywhere else—not even in the Flapper Girl Boutique.

Each kit contains everything you need to make your own one-of-a-kind valentine:

• 2 pieces of vintage unbleached card stock
• 1 retro pinup cut from upcycled (eco-friendly) paper goods
• 2 trims—1 piece of velvet ribbon & 1 piece of wide lace trim
• 3 various classy vintage buttons
• 1 mini fancy ribbon bow

In other Reading Frenzy news, next week the shop will be hosting it’s 11th Annual Valentine’s Invitational. Dozens of artists have contributed handmade valentines and valentine-themed artwork to benefit the Special Education PTA of Portland (SEPTAP).

Next Thursday, February 4, all the artwork will up on display at Reading Frenzy. You can swing by between 6-9pm to check it all out, and bid on anything that strikes your fancy.

Vintage-Inspired Flapper Valentine Ornaments

I just stocked the Flapper Girl Boutique with my new vintage-inspired flapper Valentine ornaments!

These lovely paper flapper ornaments can be used as part of your Valentine’s Day decor, or to adorn a gift package. There is even a space on the back of each ornament to write a message if you like.

All components of these ornaments were hand-cut and hand-glued. Each flapper medallion features hand-folded pink crepe fringe and champagne pink or silver glitter accents.
