I’ve been on a huge Tom Petty kick the past few months. I’ve always been a fan, but his music resonates more with me as I get older.
Nearly 10 years ago, I bought a large stack of vintage photos of Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park for fifty cents at a Soroptomist sale in Camas, Washington. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but I figured I would use them in collages or something.
Somehow I held onto them all these years, and few weeks ago I dug the photos out of my ephemera cabinet. As I was flipping through them, I thought about how much the photos matched Tom Petty’s music, so I decided to make the above images just for fun.
I’m not sure when the photos were taken (my guess is probably sometime in the 1960s), but time has not been kind to these photos—they are all pretty faded and the colors are incredibly dull. I was amazed at how gorgeous they turned out once I corrected them in Photoshop.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this fun little project (and some of my favorite Tom Petty lyrics). I hope you all are having a great weekend!
