When I was a little girl, I always looked forward to August summer nights when my mom and dad would lay out the sleeping bags in the back yard and we would all stay up a little later than usual watching for falling stars.
Seeing all those falling stars as a kid was a pretty magical experience. I also have fond memories of my dad pointing out different constellations, and having discussions with him about UFOs, satellites, planets, and the mind-bending concept of the universe.
The annual summer meteor shower, Perseids, has been active since about July 23, but it will peak next week around August 12. In celebration of Perseids, I have created a new vintage-inspired astronomy garland!
A handful of smiling moons and planetary diagrams framed with black crepe fringe join Urania—the Greek muse of astronomy who is able to foretell the future by the arrangement of the stars—and a lovely witchy French astronomer who directs our attention to Saturn.
A band of space-age silver glitter surrounds a beautiful vintage black and white image of the moon framed by black crepe fringe and golden yellow lace ribbon.
Garland measures approx. 50″ long. Available now in the Flapper Girl Boutique.
