At the risk of regretting this X amount of years down the road, when I ask myself why I was foolish enough to post what I will then perceive as horrible, amateur student work on my blog, I have something I just made that I want to show you.
Here is a project for my sophomore-level design studio class. It’s artwork for a 7″ single. I was allowed to choose whichever song I wanted to. At first, I choose Brandy by Looking Glass because it is one of my favorite songs of all time. However, I soon realized that it was a really hard song (and band) to create artwork for. I dragged my feet for a long time, and things just weren’t working.
So I switched to End Times by the Eels, because I have been digging the hell out of the album it’s on (which is of the same name). It was then that things really started coming together.
What you see is the front cover, the inside protective sleeve, and the actual 45, respectively.
Anyway, I had said awhile ago that I wanted to post more about my adventures in design school, so I thought I’d share a little nugget today.
