This is the final week of classes for winter quarter. Next week is finals week, and I have three huge projects due. Needless to say, I was a slave to Photoshop and Illustrator this weekend, with no signs of it stopping until the end of next week.
Here is a little something I was working on this weekend for one of my classes. I’m attempting to make a poster for a local Hallowe’en event, and I was testing out what various colors of Mr. Pumpkin would look like against a paper texture I made in Photoshop.
Mr. Pumpkin is trippin’ balls.
Anyway, I did manage to take a quick break on Saturday afternoon. My 19-year-old niece came by to visit, and since it was a such a gorgeous, sunny day, we all walked up to 28th Ave. to explore for awhile. We hit up Staccato Gelato, Butterscotch, ZimZim, and Smut.
Butterscotch had a lovely assortment of Voluspa candles that came in beautiful art deco tins:
While the candles smelled yummy—especially Vintage Tobacco Vanille & Santiago Huckleberry—more than anything, I just really loved the tins themselves. They come in an assortment of colors, and would look really pretty on a vanity or dresser top, possibly housing bobby pins. I also daydreamed about having a set of empty tins to use as part of a desk set. They were the perfect size to hold things like paper clips and push pins.
I am such a sucker for pretty containers.
