Handmade Nation: This Weekend in PDX

This weekend Handmade Nation—the documentary all about “the rise of DIY, Art, Craft, and Design”—will be screening here in Portland at the Museum of Contemporary Craft.

For the big premiere this Friday evening, the lucky ticketholders will be receiving a fun swag bag filled with all sorts of crafty delights. I was asked to donate some goodies for the bags, and I happily volunteered to make 25 sets of barrettes. Here’s a sneak peek:

Faythe Levine is the mastermind behind Handmade Nation, and she will be in town for the big event. In addition to making the movie, she also co-wrote a book of the same name with Cortney Heimerl. It’s a gorgeous book, and I’m so glad to have it in my collection. In addition to the screenings, Miss Levine will be at Crafty Wonderland this Sunday, April 5 to meet visitors and sign copies of her book. She will also have a stash on hand, so you can peruse it and purchase one if you’d like to take one home.

I will also be at Crafty Wonderland this weekend, setting up shop and selling my handmade goodies. I’ll post more about that later, though, so stay tuned!
