Photography in Portland and Beyond

My husband Chas has launched a new photography blog called That’s a Negative. Needless to say, I’m super proud of him, and it’s exciting to see him blogging again*.

The goal of That’s a Negative is to provide a voice of critical discourse about the medium, to examine the lineage of contemporary trends, and to attempt to make sense of the practice and theories of global photography.

Currently on That’s a Negative, you will find reviews of exhibitions by Holly Andres and Stephen Berkman; links to essays by Max Kozloff, David Levi Strauss, and Bill Jay; an editorial on Photolucida that’s already generating controversy; and information about a Belgian man who’s trying to solve the JFK assassination with the aid of a camera obscura.

Check it out if photography is your bag.

Also, on Saturday, June 28 at 10 am, Chas will be giving an illustrated lecture at Quality Pictures Contemporary Art about the South African photographer Roger Ballen. There is no admission cost to the lecture, and refreshments will be provided. It’s going to be awesome, so check it out if you’re so inclined. I will be there, along with Miss Nattie.

*His previous blog project was the uber-successful Your Daily Awesome.
