New Item! Corduroy Clutch Handbags!

I wanted to give you guys a sneak peak at my new clutch designs I’ve been working on, because I am so excited about them! The general design consists of corduroy for the outside body, cotton for the inside body, and a matching cotton wristlet. The inside organizer pocket fits a lipstick, folded dollar bills or love notes, and 2 or 3 plastic cards (my thinking being a credit card or two, and an I.D.), respectively. Various vintage trims and buttons adorn the outside for that extra dash of sassiness. All this, plus a sturdy snap closure. Check it out:

Since I’m able to use medium-small remnants of cotton for this project (meaning I can finally use a bunch of really cool fabric bits I’ve held onto for a long time, plus some great pieces of vintage fabric I found at our local thrift fabric store*), and the adornments are all vintage, each clutch I make is one-of-a-kind. So once I make a bag, that’s it. I probably won’t be able to make an exact reproduction.

Needless to say, I’ve been having a blast designing these this week. I need to go to the store tomorrow for more interfacing, because I can’t stop cutting out more pattern pieces for these. I have about a million ideas for fabric/adornment combinations, and I’m getting so excited that I want to go shopping for more fabric and more inspiration.

*Yes! Portland has a thrift fabric store—it’s so great!
